I love the New Year. Well, I really love fresh starts. While I believe this can happen at any moment, whether it’s a Monday, the first of the month, the last day of the season, or at midnight when you’ve had some revelation, I truly believe that within people have the ability to change. The fire inside might be dimmed, dulled, or afraid. Nonetheless, it’s there. But the New Year…damn, there’s just something really special about it all.
I’ve recently seen lists with 10+ goals which, IMO, can bring more stress. For me, 2016 is about stress-release and mindfulness. I even considered not writing resolutions to work on staying present, but I think resolutions and mantras can be powerful reminders.
Here's to trying something new this year, to change the resolution into an action reminder, with the addition of the word, “by.” For example, instead of “I am going to give up soda,” try,
I resolve to: replace soda by: adding lemon juice to my water
^Or, the one that stays from year to year,
*I resolve to: take a tropical vacation without financial stress
by: saving up $20/month
Finally, I wanted to thank YOU for reading this little blog that I started this past year. It’s been a whirlwind of lots of ups and downs but your support and kind words always resonate. I hope you’ve laughed, found a good recipe (hopefully two!), have learned something from this little SPOT, and are ready for 2016 with me. Life is a gorgeous balance; let’s make it a fun ride. Happy New Year!
